After completing her degree in Percussion Performance, Celene started to focus on her first love; The Drum Set. She has performed in many styles on the kit. Each performance experience built onto the next. Starting with a classic rock cover band gigging weekly with the Rebel Ritas in the early 2000s, to old-style blues, to country with Rooster in a Henhouse, to the modern rock-blues of bluessmyth (later Y Bros), she also performed solo drum set with DJ at Sophie Serafino's "Crystal Violin" show, world fusion and composing on drum set for a variety of shows including jazz standards with choirs and traditional doumbek rhythms on set for dance shows, the list of styles continues to grow. As does her practice and education.
Recent projects include a Funk band, Sophie Armstrong, and a pop/rock start up.
As a classically trained percussionist, many opportunities to perform arise. Recently, a dance collaboration with other percussion arose at the Banff Centre and the Mark Morris Dance Group.
Whether it is a combination of drum set and classical or world percussion, or straight up classical/wind band repertoire, Celene has experience with it all.
